Our ‘Her’story
A.H.P. Home Health Care, Inc. has been a cornerstone provider of home health services in the Jacksonville area since its inception in 1995. It was among the pioneer home healthcare businesses established on Jacksonville’s Northside, setting a standard for quality, compassionate care in the community. The agency was founded by Ms. Janice L. Austin, a registered nurse whose vision was to cater to the needs of an increasingly vulnerable population whose requirements for adequate home healthcare were frequently overlooked or neglected.
Janice’s unwavering commitment to serving the most underserved and underrepresented patients in the area catapulted her into the spotlight as an unsung hero. Through her tireless efforts, she inspired many within her community, ensuring that those who needed help the most received the attention and care they deserved. Her patients, along with the dedicated staff and broader community, celebrated her passion and zeal for improving the quality of life for others. This legacy of care continued until her own struggle with colon cancer concluded on June 20, 2009.
After Janice’s passing, she entrusted the agency’s mission to her sister, Charlene L. Austin. Charlene, who was undoubtedly affected by the personal loss of her sister, took on the monumental responsibility of not only caring for Janice during her final days but also carrying forth the vision that Janice had championed. With a devoted and excellent team, the delivery of high-quality service, and the backing of supportive Jacksonville area communities and partner corporations, Charlene has worked to uphold and expand her late sister’s legacy.
